As an angel investor and entrepreneur, I had been closely following the progress in legislation surrounding equity crowdfunding. When the JOBS Act passed and opened up new opportunities for individuals interested in investing, I immediately jumped on as an investor. Several years later, in 2019, I had the opportunity to raise again for a new start-up. Equity crowdfunding seemed like the ideal avenue. While I would not recommend it for every type of business, if you will end up having a lot of users, getting their “buy-in” in the form of an equity raise is a powerful way to go.
